The Spa Brands We Stand Behind

Marquis

For nearly 40 years, Marquis has built every hot tub around one question: how do we improve the experience? Even the entry models are world-class, handcrafted in the USA and engineered for real hydrotherapy, clean water, and lasting reliability. Many can be upgraded with MicroSilk, which fills the water with millions of oxygen-rich bubbles that draw out toxins and leave your skin noticeably softer — turning an everyday soak into something closer to a spa treatment.

Models from $8,600 – $26,600

Vita spa

Vita Spa is built like an appliance — and built to last. Engineered to appliance-grade standards on a rugged metal frame, these are some of the most durable spas on the market, made right here in the USA. Patented Northern Exposure insulation recycles the spa's own heat through three thermal layers to hold temperature and lower your energy costs, while the CleanZone system keeps the water crystal clear with far less chemical upkeep. Tough, efficient, and dialed in for the long haul.

“… this has to be the best showroom around for outdoor products. Matt was great in helping me with my hot tub purchase. I have been looking for a hot tub for a while and he showed me the Microsilk option in the Marquis spas. I have used it for about a week and I have felt a huge difference in the way my skin feels…”

-Rohit G., San Ramon

“We just bought a new Marquis Monaco Elite hot tub from Custom Fireplace. Although we’ve only had it for a few weeks, it is wonderful. Of no less importance was the incredible service we received from Andy Ligon and his team. The installation was a bit tricky and they took the time to carefully plan out the project and executed it flawlessly. We found them to be honest, straightforward and responsive and recommend them without reservation.”

-Peter W., Piedmont

“After visiting a few other stores in the area i went into Custom Fireplace Patio & BBQ. Their showroom was by far the best, and the staff was very helpful. I ended up purchasing a Marquis spa with microsilk. We have used it for a week and there is a noticeable difference in how my skin feels…”

Questions People Ask Us

How much does a hot tub cost to run?

Short answer: at current PG&E rates (39–41¢/kWh), most hot tubs in the Tri-Valley run about $55–$85 per month in electricity.

Here’s the real math. Every spa on our floor carries a California Energy Guide label with its tested annual usage — a 4-person Vita Spa is rated around 1,700 kWh per year (roughly $57/month at Bay Area rates), while a large 6-person model runs about 2,350 kWh (roughly $79/month). Marquis models land in the same neighborhood or slightly lower.

Your actual bill depends on a few things: how often the cover is off, your water temperature, filtration run times, and which PG&E rate plan you’re on — time-of-use plans reward heating during off-peak hours. Well-insulated spas hold heat dramatically better, which is most of the battle.

When you visit, we’ll show you the energy label on the exact model you’re considering and give you a realistic monthly number — not a national average that ignores California rates.

Are hot tubs hard to maintain?

Honestly? Not anymore — plan on a few minutes every couple of days, and that’s it.

Here’s what owning one actually looks like now: you dip a test strip every couple of days, nudge the pH if it’s drifted, and squirt a little enzyme in on your way out of the spa once or twice a month. That’s the routine. A few minutes here and there — not a weekend chore.

The reason it’s gotten so easy is the spas are doing most of the work themselves. Marquis builds in an inline FROG @ease system — a chlorine cartridge that lasts a month, minerals that last three — along with ozone and UV purification and a SmartClean cycle that runs automatically after you get out. Vita Spas run ozone and UV too, and can use the same @ease system in floating form. The difference is real: less chemical use, none of that harsh hot-tub smell, and water that stays genuinely clear.

Change the water every three to six months, and you’re done. We stock everything you need — cartridges, minerals, test strips — right here in the showroom.

Will a hot tub fit in my yard?

Almost always — and we’ll confirm it for free before you spend a dime.

Getting it into the yard is usually the easy part. Hot tubs travel on their side, which means the question isn’t whether your gate fits an eight-foot spa — it’s whether there’s about 45 inches of clearance for the tub and the cart it rides on. Most side yards have it.

As for the spa itself, there’s a size for almost every yard — from compact two-person models that tuck into a small corner up to 94-inch family spas and 80-inch rounds. What actually matters is where it lands: a flat, solid base that can carry the weight, whether that’s concrete, pavers, compacted stone, or a deck built for the load.

If you’re not sure about your setup, don’t guess. Send us a few photos and a quick video from the curb to the spot, and we’ll tell you straight what fits. Worst case, a crane lifts it right over the house. We rarely meet a yard we can’t work with.

What does delivery and setup involve?

From delivery to placement to your cover and steps, we set the whole thing up — an electrician makes the final hookup, and you’re ready to fill.

We typically schedule delivery one to two weeks out, once we know when your spa will land at  our warehouse. On delivery day, our crew brings it into the yard, unwraps it, and sets it in place — oriented exactly the way you marked on your site survey — then installs your cover and cover lift, plus steps or a bench if you added them. Finally we hand off a set of startup chemicals that will last you around three months.

From there, a licensed electrician makes the final connections. If you don’t have one, we’ll put you in touch with local pros we trust. Once that’s done and the tub is filled, you’re ready to soak.

Plenty of owners are good to go from there — but you’re not on your own. If you’d like a hand, we’ll walk you through the controls and your first water treatment over the phone, or set up a time to come out in person and show you everything hands-on. However much help you want, it’s yours.

Who handles service and warranty if something breaks?

You call us — one number, every time. If your spa has a problem, it’s our problem.

This is the part that separates a real dealer from a website checkout, a parking-lot tent, or a fairground booth. When something needs attention, you don’t dig up a manufacturer’s 800 number or get bounced between companies — you call us, and we take it from there. We manage the claim start to finish and bring in the right people to make the repair, so it actually gets fixed.

On coverage, we go past the fine print. Manufacturers cover a lot of the spa for years, but the short-term stuff — headrests, cartridge holders, fuses, bulbs — is often only backed for 90 days or just at delivery. We extend those to a full year — parts and labor, on us.

We’re not going anywhere. Family-owned and local since 1972, five decades serving Bay Area homeowners. We knew what we were signing up for, and we’ll still be here when you need us.

Salt water or regular hot tub — which is better?

Here’s what surprises people: both are chlorine systems. Salt just makes the chlorine for you instead of you adding it.

A salt system runs the water through a cell that converts salt into chlorine automatically, so it’s not “chemical-free” the way people often assume — it’s still chlorine, just generated on-site. The upside people like is real: softer-feeling water and a bit less day-to-day fuss.

But the tradeoffs are where it gets honest. That salt cell wears out every few years and runs a few hundred dollars to replace. Salt is corrosive over time — it’s hard on jets, heaters, and plumbing if your water balance ever slips, and it can drive up calcium and scaling. You also need a spa specifically built to handle salt, and fewer techs are comfortable servicing those systems when something goes wrong.

That’s why we don’t sell salt systems. The FROG @ease setup on our spas gives you that same low, steady chlorine and soft water — without the corrosion, the cell replacements, or the extra cost. If you’re weighing the two, come in and we’ll walk you through it straight, no agenda.

What does a hot tub help with?

Quite a bit, actually — the big ones are better sleep, less stress, and real relief from aches and pain.

Sleep: a warm soak before bed relaxes you, and the drop in body temperature afterward is a natural cue for deep sleep. It’s the benefit most owners say they notice first.

Stress: warm water and massaging jets lower your heart rate and trigger the release of endorphins — the body’s own way of winding down after a long day.

Muscle and joint pain: hydrotherapy — heat plus targeted jet massage — loosens tight muscles and eases stiff joints. Research has shown it can meaningfully reduce pain for people with arthritis, and it’s a favorite for post-workout recovery.

Circulation: warm water opens up blood vessels, which improves circulation and can gently support heart health.

And on select Marquis models, MicroSilk takes it a step further — filling the water with microbubbles up to 100 times smaller than normal that carry oxygen deep into your skin. Users get softer, more hydrated skin, boosted collagen, and even better sleep from the negative ions it releases. It’s the kind of thing you have to feel to believe.

None of this replaces a doctor, and if you have a heart condition or you’re pregnant, check with yours first. But for everyday recovery, better rest, and simply feeling looser and calmer, a few minutes a day genuinely adds up.
